Because most people are too focused on what they can get, instead of how they can help.
Here’s what most people miss:
When you make a valuable connection, people remember you.
Not as someone trying to “network”, but as someone who sees people.
I keep a mental note of what people care about.
What they’re building. What lights them up.
If someone’s into running, I’ll connect them to a coach, running content creator or race director.
If they’re building something, I’ll intro them to a great operator or investor.
You don’t need to force it. Just stay present.
Be curious. Be interested. Be helpful.

It’s one of the most powerful habits you can build.
And it compounds like nothing else.
2. Do The Unexpected
If you want to be remembered - do what no one else thinks to do.
Here’s a simple example from earlier this month:
Justin Welsh was visiting London with his wife.
I curated a thoughtful list of restaurant hot spots, bars & day trips, tailored to them. Took me an hour.
Sent it without asking for anything.
A week later, we met at an event.
That list? First thing he brought up.
And the last thing we talked about that night.
Now we’re connected. Not because I tried to get anything from him.
Because I did something most people wouldn’t.
That’s how trust gets built.
That’s how opportunities find you.
Not from noise. But from care.
